Leadership Russell County
MISSION:
Leadership Russell County, sponsored by the Russell County Chamber of Commerce, provides a leadership forum that will continue to successfully transition Russell County into the 21st Century.
GOALS:
- To enhance individual leadership skills.
- To educate participants about current resources.
- To enable participants to gain a better understanding of the challenges facing Russell County
- To develop a network of highly qualified futuristic leaders.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Leadership Russell County is an innovative program designed to meet our community's need for the active participation of informed and dedicated community leaders. The goal of the program is to inform, challenge, and motivate established, as well as potential leaders, by providing information on community resources, identification of community concerns, interaction with community leaders, and present possible strategies.
PROGRAM OUTLINE
Over a nine-month period, participants in Leadership Russell County are given an in-depth look at specific topics of community interest and importance through a series of one-half day seminars. Personal growth is encouraged through the development of leadership styles and effectiveness, as well as site visits and hands on experiences, i.e. health internship with a physician or other health care provider, spending a day with a teacher, attending county government meetings (city council, school board, etc)
· The program will begin with a one day kick off at the Tourist Center, with and introduction to the program, team building activity, motivational speaker & interpretation of the Myers-Briggs Test.
· Ongoing seminars will take place on the 3rd Thursday, of every month beginning at 11:30 AM, and ending at approximately 4:00 PM. Prominent leaders from both the public and private sectors will present programs on such topics as Tourism, Economic Development, Education, Health, Youth Opportunities, tourism, etc.
THE INVITATION
Business owners and managers are invited to nominate someone in their organization to become a participant in the program. Individuals should have leadership potential.
There are two items to consider. First, the cost of the program is $250.00. Second, is the commitment of time! These programs will take half a day, every third Thursday, for nine months.
Those participating need the support of their employer to maximize the benefits of the program. Participants missing more than one scheduled meeting will not receive a Certificate of Completion.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Only one person, per business or organization, will be considered.
Class size will range from 15-20, and participants will represent a wide variety of ages and backgrounds.
Participants will represent a variety of ages and backgrounds from homemaker and community volunteer to educator and business executive.
Participants will be selected after consideration of their leadership potential, community interest and involvement, accomplishments, recommendations, and ability to assume expanded community responsibility.
