Russell County is fortunate to have a group of individuals and businesses dedicated to promoting Russell County's industrial and business attributes.
Russell County has evolved over the years from an agricultural community to an area in which the economy is based upon industry and tourism. The area combines an attractive environment for industry and natural recreation opportunities for its residents.
An ample labor supply, coupled with an abundant water supply, large capacity waste water treatment plant, and modest tax rate makes Russell County an ideal place for many kinds of industry. These positive economic factors have been instrumental in attracting a variety of industries including garment, wood products, farm gates, and houseboat manufacturing.
A major contributor to the economic health of the community is tourism. There are four commercial marinas, a number of motels and resorts, restaurants, boat rentals and other businesses stimulated by a year-round tourist industry which enjoys its best months April through October. Some 1,600 people work in tourism related jobs. The economic impact of being fortunately located on beautiful Lake Cumberland is estimated by the Kentucky Department of Travel to produce more than $68 million in revenues in Russell County annually.
The Russell County Industrial Development Authority representing the cities of Russell Springs and Jamestown and the county, is aggressively seeking new industry. We currently have two business parks ready to meet your business needs.
