RUSSELL COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

General  Meeting

December 20, 2011

The Russell County Chamber of Commerce met at the Hillbilly Café on December 20, 2011 at Noon.

President Joy Fletcher called the meeting to order.

MINUTES

A motion was made by Ronald Hopper and seconded by Don Cooper to accept the minutes as written for the November 2011 general meeting.  The motion carried.

FINANCIAL REPORT

Sharon Hill presented the financial report for the month of November 2011. There was a beginning balance of $31,131.36 and ending balance of $30,885.57.  The financial reports were accepted as read.

BUSINESS

a. Joy Fletcher gave a brief report on behalf of Brenda Pearson for Leadership Russell County, stating that the current account balance is 2,309.90.

b. Fletcher announced that the 2012 budget was approved during the Board Meeting and includes $39,850 budgeted in revenue, $38,800 in expenses, with a net margin of $1,050.

c. Fletcher also announced that the nominations for the 2012 Chamber Board were approved during the Board Meeting and called for any further nominations from the floor.  No nominations were made.

d. Fletcher announced that the 2011 Shop at Home campaign has come to a close and was a success with nearly 1,500 entries across 30 businesses.

e. Michael Ford from the Russell County Board of Education has approached the Chamber in search of volunteers for Operation Preparation, a program designed to encourage mentoring between local 8th or 10th graders and successful community members.  A sign-up sheet was passed around with additional information available to those interested.

f. First time attendee at the Chamber meeting was Jason Collins, a new CPA at Alicia Joy Fletcher, CPA.  An open house will be held at Joy Fletcher’s office on January 6, 2012 from 1-4 pm.  All Chamber and community members are welcome to attend.

g. Joy Fletcher thanked all the Chamber members for their support in making her term in office successful and enjoyable, and she wished good luck toward Adam Stille and Tonya Meece who will serve as President and Vice President in 2012.
