RUSSELL COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Board  Meeting

March 16, 2010

 

The Russell County Chamber of Commerce Board Members met at Loy’s Midtown Restaurant on March 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. 

 

President James Gray called the meeting to order.

 

MINUTES

 

A motion was made by Joy Fletcher seconded by Pam Eysenbach to accept the minutes as written for the February, 2010 meeting. The motion carried.

 

FINANCIAL REPORT

 

Sharon Hill presented the financial report for the month of January, 2010. There was a beginning balance of $29,818.11 and ending balance of $27,653.96.  The financial reports were accepted as read.

 

BUSINESS

 

  1.  Discussion about yearly evaluation of the Administrative Assistant.  A committee of James Gray, Joy Fletcher, Ralph Creech, Sharon Hill and Cory Stearns will meet with Debbie at the Tourist Commission office to complete a review.
  2. The website will continue to be updated; currently postings have been made about the banquet, Business Expo and the Small Business Forum.
  3. Mailing of hard copies has been cut tremendously as we are sending Chamber info thru email.  Still working on collecting email addresses.  Also would like to have a database of fax numbers.
  4. Sharon McCubbin, Linda McFarland and Kim Kelsey are the Blitz captains.  The Blitz is the week of March 15-19.
  5. The Small Business and Entrepreneurial Forum sponsored by LCADD will be April 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  6. Banquet update – April 29; speaker will be Tom Mabe, comedian from Louisville, KY.  Thirty tables will be available for businesses to set up. The Banquet Committee have been meeting to plan the details of the banquet.
  7. Business Expo will be held on May 11.  Robin Rixon, teacher at the high school will volunteer some of her students to help with details.
  8. Leadership Russell County – Wendell Miller had asked to be relieved as director of this program.  James Gray announced to let him know if anyone was interested.

SPEAKER

 

Michelle Spencer, a nationally certified trainer from the Shining Star program, spoke of the benefits of this program and asked that businesses in the area to consider a free training she offers to enhance the skills of businesses employees.

 

ADJOURN

Jacky Burton made a motion to adjourn meeting; Linda McFarland seconded the motion.  The meeting was adjourned.
