General Meeting
January 17, 2012
The Russell County Chamber of Commerce met at The Cove on January 17, 2012 at noon. President Adam Stille called the meeting to order by welcoming everyone to the first meeting of 2012 and thanking the Chamber for the opportunity to serve as President. He also introduced the Executive Committee, including Vice President Tonya Meece and Treasurer Sharon Hill.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
During the Board meeting, a motion was made by Joy Fletcher and seconded by Alan Coffey to accept the minutes as written for the December 2011 meeting. The motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT
Sharon Hill presented the financial report for the month of December 2011. There was a beginning balance of $30,885.57 and ending balance of $25,882.25. The financial reports were accepted as read.
BUSINESS
Leadership Report
Adam Stille made a brief Leadership Russell County report on behalf of Lindsey Wilson, noting that the class of 8 students is running smoothly and the next session will highlight youth opportunities.
2012 Committees
Adam Stille announced that the Board approved a listing of 2012 Chamber committees and committee members during the Board meeting. Any other members interested in serving on a committee should contact Lindsey Westerfield at

Thank You from Russell Springs Downtown Revitalization Committee
Adam Stille read a note of thanks from the Russell Springs Downtown Revitalization Committee for the Chamber’s recurring donation of $100 to the 2011 Russell Springs Christmas Parade.
Pacesetter Awards
Adam Stille announced an opportunity for local businesses to apply for the 2012 Kentucky Business Pacesetter Awards. Minimum qualifications include businesses with six or more full-time employees, including the owner; generate sales meeting or exceeding $500,000; and demonstration of the intent and capacity to grow. Two for Tuesday
Tonya Meece introduced a new promotion starting at the next general meeting where two Chamber-member businesses can make a donation of $50 to the Chamber and in turn receive two minutes during the general meeting to promote their business, products, or services. GUEST SPEAKER
Annette Mather, Disaster Services Coordinator from the Lake Cumberland Area American Red Cross, spoke about the need for individual volunteers, corporate partners, and shelters in the area to assist in the event of a disaster in Russell County. The Red Cross will also be offering 6-week volunteer classes at the Russell County Auditorium/Natatorium Complex on Thursdays from 5-9 pm. ANNOUNCEMENTS
John Carter announced that the Russell Springs Downtown Revitalization Committee would be holding a Valentines Day event at the new Russell Springs Community Center on February 14 at 6:30 pm for $30 per couple. Visit Russell Springs City Hall to purchase tickets.
David Rasmussen announced that the Russell County Hospital Foundation would be holding a Valentines Gala at the Russell County Auditorium/Natatorium Complex on February 11 at 6 pm for $150 per couple. Visit Sheldon Stephen’s Office, Montgomery Furniture, or Patricia Rippetoe to purchase tickets.
The Russell County Partners in Prevention will host their next coalition meeting at the Jamestown Christian Church on January 26 at noon. Guest speaker will be Commonwealth Attorney Matthew Leveridge.
