What is a Chamber of Commerce?

A Chamber of Commerce is an association of business people concerned about improving the area in which they do business; the area in which they live; the area in which they have made their greatest investments. Its strength lies in the number and diversity of its membership.  Both large and small businesses from virtually every profession are represented and they influence the interests and concerns of the Chamber.

The members are the Chamber.  The more members the Chamber has, the better its representation in the overall community. It accomplishes collectively what no other business could do alone, and is only as strong as members allow it to be, through their support. It is through this support that the committees are formed to advance the programs and projects that will benefit the community.  With combined expertise and a desire to see the Plan of Action succeed, a Chamber and its members create an atmosphere where community and business growth are inevitable.

The Board of Directors, which is elected by the membership, sets forth the Plan of Action each year. The Board assesses the needs of the community and develops its plan. The plan contains the programs, projects, and efforts that the Chamber will work on throughout the year, with the help of member volunteers and staff. The Chamber must be an initiator and catalyst to accomplish timely and needed programs and projects, which will make this community a better place to live, work, and enjoy life.

We invite you to join us in our efforts!
